Holland-Iran Potato Seminar was held in Tehran on Tuesday with the aim of establishing joint ventures for producing seeds, creating varieties and transferring cultivation techniques.  The event was attended by farmers, businesspeople and academicians from Iran and the Netherlands. “We want to share our expertise and support new generations in Iran to become entrepreneurs in agriculture. An important objective of this seminar is establishing new contacts leading to new partnerships, new business deals, new networks between Iranian and Dutch counterparts,” said Dutch Ambassador to Iran Susanna Terstal at the seminar. Abbas Keshavarz, deputy agriculture minister, who also attended the event, told Financial Tribune that Iran produces about 5 million tons of potatoes annually, of which 500,000 to 600,000 tons are exported. The seminar was organized by the Netherlands’ Embassy in Iran in collaboration with the Union of Seed Potato Producers of Iran and Wageningen University and Research.
