The year-to-date revenues of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration stand at over 170 trillion rials ($4.25 billion), of which import duties account for 125 trillion rials ($3.12 billion), IRICA’s managing director announced.

Latest IRICA statistics show Iran imported 19.93 million tons of non-oil commodities worth $27.81 billion during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (started March 21), up 14.89% in value year-on-year. Increased imports of basic goods, auto parts, cars and capital goods are the main reasons behind the rise in imports.

"Revenues from import duties alone are projected to increase by 35 trillion rials ($875 million) to reach 200 trillion rials ($5 billion) by the [Iranian] yearend [March 20, 2018]," Foroud Asgari was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
