Economic Departments in Embassies

Economic departments will be established in Iranian diplomatic missions within a couple of weeks, Mehr News Agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi as saying. Back in July, Majlis Research Center put forth eight proposals for the consideration of the Foreign Ministry, including one for the formation of economic departments in Iran’s diplomatic apparatus. The center stated that the economic departments should enjoy the services of qualified experts from different sectors. “With a strong mandate, the departments can act as the main center of decision-making and coordination of different organizations on the economic stage,” the center’s proposal read.
