The Ministry of Agricultural Jihad says it has plans to make more efficient use of water for irrigation purposes. “Less than 10 percent of arable land in the eastern province of Khorasan Razavi is equipped with advanced irrigation systems,” Mohammad Shariatmadari, vice president for executive affairs, said during a visit to the province on Tuesday. “The government seeks to take advantage of local people to renovate 600 dried and semi-dried aqueducts in the province with the aim of revitalizing the agriculture sector.”
