Iran Airports Company registered 42,648 takeoffs and landings during the Iranian month ending Sept. 22, showing a 5% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period.

About 5.6 million passengers and 61,000 tons of cargo were transported during the period, indicating a 4% and 12% year-on-year growth respectively, IAC reported on its website.

As for domestic flights, 33,524 takeoffs and landings were registered, up 2% YOY.

More than 4.17 million passengers and 33,000 tons of goods were transported domestically, indicating a 0% and 8% rise respectively over the last year’s same period.

On the international front, about 9,124 takeoffs and landings were registered, marking a 15% YOY rise.

A total of 1.49 million passengers and 27,386 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, posting a 16% and 19% YOY increase.

Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest domestic airport during the period, followed by Mashhad International Airport and Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Iran Airports Company is affiliated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and manages 54 airports across the country.
