Statistics released by Iran’s Customs Administration show that member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have been the major destination for Iran’s exports during the first six months of the current Iranian year (starting March 21).

Some 19,366 tons of goods worth $8.982 billion were exported to OIC member states, indicating about 1% increase in both weight and value compared with the same period last year.

Iran also exported 5,980 tons of different goods worth $3.577 billion to Economic Cooperation Organization’s (ECO) member countries, making the organization second top importer from Iran. The figure shows 3% increase in both weight and value compared with the same period last year.

According to the statistics, members of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council ([P]GCC) were the third major importers from Iran, receiving 4,431 tons of goods worth $2.181 billion from the country. The figure shows nearly 16% increase in both weight and value compared with last year.

The commonwealth Independent States (CIS) took the fourth place, importing 3,492 tons of goods worth $1.271 billion. The figure, however, shows 3% and 4% decrease in weight and value respectively compared with a year ago.

Overall, Iran exported 47.895 tons of goods worth $28.187 billion during the first six months of the current year, recording nearly 10% and 18% growth respectively in weight and value compared with the year before.
