Iran’s northwestern city of Astara exported 50,116 tons of agro products worth $44.53 million during the six months to Sept. 22. Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Central Asian countries were the export destinations for 31 agricultural products, including kiwi, potato, onion, Persian melon, dates, pepper, carrot, raisins, cabbage, apple, cucumber, vegetable, grape, watermelon, cherry, lemon, lettuce, tea and pistachio. “The volume and value of exports are the same as in the last corresponding period,” Iraj Shiarkar, the head of Astara Agricultural Jihad Organization, was quoted as saying by IRNA. “Some 95,798 tons of 18 types of agro products were imported into the country via Astara, indicating a 27% year-on-year increase,” he added.
