A total of 43.76 million tons of oil and non-oil goods were loaded and unloaded in the ports of the southern Hormozgan Province during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21-August 22) to register a 3.6% rise compared with last year’s similar period, the director general of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization said. “Of the total sum, 28.36 million tons pertained to non-oil and 15.4 million tons to oil products. Over the period, 15.32 million tons and nearly 6.05 million tons of non-oil and oil products were respectively exported from the provincial ports. Imports of non-oil goods stood at 4.62 million tons and oil products at 1.24 million tons,” Allah-Morad Afifipour was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. Afifipour noted that container loading and unloading amounted to 1.15 million TEUs over the period, registering a 34% rise year-on-year. A total of 15,243 vessels berthed in Hormozgan ports during the period, of which 2,070 weighed over 1,000 tons.
