Thai Products Exhibition, organized by Thai Ministry of Commerce and the Thai Embassy, was held in Tehran at Parsian Azadi Hotel this week.

Products made in Thailand such as rice, canned food, water equipment, kitchen plastic-ware, bags, sandals, steel cables, cars and parts, health products and cosmetics were showcased at the expo from September 10 to 12, in which representatives from 22 Iranian and Thai companies participated, Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture’s news portal reported.

“Iran, with an 80-million population, strong active economy and political stability is an important trade partner for Thailand. This expo is another step toward expansion of mutual cooperation between the two sides,” Thai Ambassador to Iran Kallayana Vipattipumiprates was quoted as saying during the opening ceremony.

ICCIMA’s representative, Abolfazl Rahnama, said Thailand could be the bridge between Iran and East Asia, while Iran could be the bridge for Thailand to connect with the 450-million-people markets of Middle East, Central Asia, Caucasus and Europe. Rahnama explained that there is potential for cooperation in the fields of tourism, hospitality, oil, gas, energy, petrochemicals, fishery, construction, auto parts, halal food and agriculture.

Iran’s trade with Thailand stood at $411 million in 2016, having exported $154 million worth of commodities to the East Asian country while imports stood at $257 million, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration announced.
