About 2.8 billion cigarettes were smuggled into Iran during the five months since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21), registering a 47% decline compared with last year’s corresponding period, the head of Tobacco Planning and Supervision Center, Ali Asghar Ramzi, said. Cigarette smuggling was around 12 billion in the fiscal 2014-15, eight billion in 2015-16 and six billion in 2016-17, ISNA reported.
