More than 1,520 tons of sesame seeds worth 71.27 billion rials ($2.2 million) were imported during the fourth month of the current fiscal year (June 22-July 22), the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration announced.
India with nearly $1.45 million was the biggest exporter of the product to Iran followed by Nigeria, the UAE and Sudan, Young Journalists Club reported.
The Iranian government plans to achieve self-sufficiency in the production of oilseeds within the next 10 years.
