Iran-Singapore Ties

The need for developing new trade ties in the fields of banking and investment was underlined in a joint meeting between the head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) and the director of Middle East affairs for the Singaporean ministry of trade and industry, IRNA reported.
The TPO chairman Valiollah Afkhamirad said Iran is ready to cooperate with Singapore in the fields of banking, mining, hospitality and transportation. Francis Chong, for his part, said that his country is keen to invest in different industries in Iran.
As part of their tour, the Singaporean delegation will visit Chabahar Free Zone to discuss with local authorities the possibility if investing in the development of the Chabahar port, which lies on the northern shores of the Gulf of Oman and is Iran’s closest and best access point to the Indian Ocean.
