Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojati says his ministry is ready to help Iranian companies to easily export their products to Russia. He made the comment in a meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Moscow on Monday.
In the wake of the sanctions imposed by the West against Moscow over the crisis in Ukraine, Russia has banned the import of food and agricultural products from the European Union in a retaliatory move, opting to meet its domestic demand by importing from other countries such as Iran.
In a separate development on Monday, Russia’s Minister of Agriculture Nikolay Fedorov said in an interview with Moscow-based news agency TASS that Russia is negotiating to export meat and poultry to Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern countries like Iran and China, Iraq, Turkey and Vietnam.
