Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh inaugurated on Wednesday two dry docks in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, located in Hormozgan Province, for maintenance and repair of vessels.

A total of 7.2 trillion rials ($192 million), plus $88 million in foreign currency credit, has been invested in the construction of the docks, IRNA quoted the managing director of the contractor, Azim Gostaresh Hormoz Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex, as saying.

“The dry docks, which are among the biggest of their kinds in the region, can accommodate ships up to an annual capacity of 120,000 tons, 385 meters long, 84 meters wide and 14.5 meters high,” Esmaeil Sadeqi said, adding that the project has created 84 direct jobs.
