4.9m Tons of Potatoes Expected to Be Produced This Year

Some 4.99 million tons of potatoes are expected to be produced in the current fiscal year (March 2017-18) on close to 146,200 hectares of land in Iran, an official with the Agriculture Ministry said.

“Last year, 4.9 million tons of potatoes were produced over 150,200 hectares of farms and 647,700 tons of the product worth $109.7 million were exported,” Hossein Asghari was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

According to the official, the provinces of Hamedan, Ardebil, Kurdestan, East Azarbaijan and Isfahan are the main producers of potatoes in Iran.
