Close to 6.5 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the Persian Gulf port of Imam Khomeini located in Khuzestan Province during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 21), registering a 10% rise compared with the similar period of a year before. The tonnage amounts to 36,560 twenty-foot equivalent unit containers, which shows a 29% growth year-on-year, Ministry of Roads and Urban Development’s news portal reported. About 80% of Iran’s imports of basic commodities are handled at Imam Khomeini Port.
