About $312 million worth of commodities were exported from Markazi Province during the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), registering a 63% increase compared with the corresponding period of last year, director general of Markazi Customs Administration said.

“The exports mainly included petrochemicals, industrial productss, decorative stones, flower and ornamental plants, which were mostly dispatched to Afghanistan, Iraq and Turkey,” Mehdi Mirashrafi was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

About $115 million worth of goods were imported into the province during the same period, registering a 34% rise year-on-year.

Raw materials and industrial machinery accounted for the lion’s share of the imports.

With more than 2,800 production units, Markazi Province located in western Iran is the country’s fourth biggest industrial hub and a major producer of travertine stones, plants and flowers.
