More than 9.04 trillion rials (about $239 million) were invested in Qeshm Free Zone in the last Iranian year that ended on March 20, 2017, registering a 51% rise compared with the year before, the director general of the free zone’s Industry, Mines and Trade Office announced.
“Exports from Qeshm increased from $16.9 million two years ago to around $32 million, indicating an 89.3% rise. The number of companies active in the free zone’s industrial parks increased by 23% to reach 155 units over the one year period,” Jahangir Majidi was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Qeshm is an island in the Strait of Hormoz located in the south of Iran.
