Iran will import 250 tons of Cavendish bananas from Philippines. The cargo will be carried from the Philippines’ Davao Port and delivered at Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan Province on June 30, the Persian daily Jahan-e Sanat reported. Iran has turned into a huge market for tropical fruits in recent years. According to a decree by the Ministry of Agriculture, only four tropical fruits, namely banana, pineapple, mango and coconut can be imported into the country. At present, the tariff on imported bananas is pegged at 24%.
