The Iranian container ship ‘Behshad’ carrying 625 TEUs from India’s Kandla Port in Kutch District of Gujarat docked at Iran’s Chabahar Port off the Persian Gulf on Tuesday, Behrouz Aqaee, director general of Ports and Maritime Organization of Sistan-Baluchestan Province sai. This is the second container vessel traversing the newly debuted shipping route between Kandla and Chabahar. The first vessel, an Indian container ship, carrying 300 TEUs (twenty-foot container equivalent units) of rice arrived at Chabahar in late May. “Direct shipment of goods from the port of Kandla to Chabahar helps save $750 per 40-feet container. The cost of transport from Chabahar to Kandla is cut by $500 for each 40ft container,” IRNA quoted him as saying.
