A total of 16.23 million tons of oil and non-oil goods were loaded and unloaded in the ports of the southern Hormozgan Province in the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21-May 21), director general of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization said.
“Of the total sum, 10.86 million tons pertained to non-oil and 5.37 million tons to oil products. Over the period, 5.5 million tons and nearly 1.8 million tons of non-oil and oil products were respectively exported from the provincial ports. The import of non-oil goods stood at 1.74 million tons and oil products at 464,000 tons,” Allah-Morad Afifipour was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Afifipour added that container loading and unloading amounted to 448,000 TEUs over the period, registering a 46% rise compared with the similar period of last year.
Close to 6,000 vessels berthed in Hormozgan ports during the period, of which 758 weighed over 1,000 tons.
