More than 2,860 tons of pineapple worth over 86 billion rials ($2.3 million) were imported in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21-April 20), the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration reported.
Philippines, the UAE, Thailand and Malaysia were the main countries from where the imports were made, Young Journalists Club reported.
Iranian fruit import regulations only allow the entry of tropical fruit, such as pineapple and mango.
