Chairman of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization Mojtaba Khosrotaj is scheduled to visit Kenya at the head of a commercial, marketing and investment delegation from July 4 to 7, director general of TPO’s Commercial Services Promotion Department has announced.

“The delegation seeks to pave the way for establishment of banking relations between Iran and Kenya as a threshold [for Iran] to East Africa,” Farhad Nouri was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

According to Iran’s commercial attaché to the African country, Kenya was Iran’s 15th biggest trade partner in the first month of the current Iranian year (started March 21).

“Iran registered its biggest trade surplus with Kenya during the month,” Morteza Deylan added, without mentioning any figures.

Iran’s exports to Kenya mainly include tar, semi-prepared dough, paraffin, fermented black tea, industrial oils and urea. Imports include pineapple juice, rose saplings, soda and vehicles.

According to Deylan, some 30 Iranian companies are now exporting their goods and services to Kenya.
