As many as 3,400 projects in Iran’s industrial parks are expected to become operational by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2018), the head of Iran’s Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization said. “We estimate 130,000 jobs will be created in the manufacturing units associated with industrial towns,” Ali Yazdani was also quoted as saying by IRNA. The government has targeted exports worth $2 billion by small- and medium-sized enterprises by the end of the year. When President Hassan Rouhani took office in 2013, 20% of the industrial units located in industrial towns had stopped production. Yazdani said the government reduced the number to 14%.
