Iran Airports Company registered 42,230 takeoffs and landings in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21-April 20), which shows a 10% rise compared with the similar period of the previous year.
More than 5.2 million passengers and 57,200 tons of cargo were transported during the period, indicating a 16% rise year-on-year, IAC reported on its website.
As for domestic flights, more than 34,000 takeoffs and landings were registered, up 11% year-on-year.
Some four million passengers and 35,000 tons of goods were transported domestically, indicating an 18% and 22% rise respectively over the same period last year.
On the international front, 8,217 takeoffs and landings were registered, increasing 6% YOY.
A total of 1.2 million passengers and 21,600 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, each posting an 8% increase.
Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was Iran’s busiest airport during the period, followed by Mashhad International Airport and Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.
Iran Airports Company is an arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, managing 54 airports across the country.
