A total of 1.99 million tons of oil-based and non-oil commodities were imported into Iran by land in the last Iranian year (March 2016-17), registering a 30% rise compared with the year before, Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization of Iran announced.
Land exports dropped by 6% to stand at 6.22 million tons, IRNA reported.
Bazargan Border Crossing in Kermanshah Province was the most active portal in terms of imports, accounting for 64% of all the goods entering the country by land, followed by Astara in Gilan Province with 11% and Mirjaveh in Sistan-Baluchestan Province with 10%.
The border crossing was also the leading transit hub in terms of exports, accounting for 21% of all the goods exported by land, followed by Milak in Sistan-Baluchestan Province with 21% and Dogharoun in Khorasan Razavi Province with 9%.
