The inauguration of the polystyrene unit of Entekhab Petrochemical Plant last week during President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Asalouyeh, Bushehr Province, will help complete the home appliance production chain in Iran. With an annual capacity of 250,000 tons, the plant is billed as the biggest producer of expanded polystyrene plant in the Middle East, ILNA reported. Branded as Snowa, ESP produced in Entekhab Petrochemical Plant will be exported to over 11 countries, including China, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan Republic, the UAE, Oman, Kosovo, Albania, Bulgaria, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Polystyrene is a synthetic aromatic polymer made from the monomer styrene. It is one of the most widely used plastics, the scale of its global production being several billion kilograms per year.
