The government can charge buyers of Mehr Housing units not more than three million rials ($111.5 at the official exchange rate), a ceiling already set for tax on each unit, Mohammad Mehrabadi, the deputy minister of roads and urban development, said on Friday during a visit to the western province of Hamedan. The tax law on the housing units was passed during the previous government’s term and the incumbent government only follows the law, he said, as reported by IRNA. The Rouhani administration has vowed to complete the controversial housing scheme - the pet project of the ex-government – across the country.
