The Islamic Republic of Iran Post Company has increased its connections with foreign postal companies and added 17 new international postal routes after the removal of sanctions to facilitate postal affairs, the director general of Islamic Republic Post Company said. “Five foreign airlines have agreed to provide Iran with access to their services in this regard,” Hossein Mehri was also quoted as saying by IRNA. Sanctions imposed on Iran over its nuclear program were removed on January 16, 2016, following the nuclear agreement between Iran and P5+1 (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, namely China, France, Russia, the UK and the US plus Germany). The agreement known internationally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was signed on July 14, 2015.
