East Azarbaijan Exports at $2b This Year

Close to $2 billion worth of goods have been exported from East Azarbaijan Province in northwest Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2016), the director general of East Azarbaijan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization.

“Industrial goods and carpets made up about $1 billion of our exports. East Azarbaijan’s products are shipped to 90 countries. Iraq, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Italy, Georgia, Pakistan and Russia are our main export destinations,” Hossein Nejati was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

Nejati noted that with an investment of 15 trillion rials ($397 million) this year, 363 industrial units were launched in the province, which created jobs for 4,300 locals.
