More than 1.13 million tons of non-oil goods worth $610 million were exported from Markazi Province during the nine months to December 20, registering a 10% and 3% increase in weight and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period.
This was announced by Jafar Asghari, deputy head of Markazi Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, a provincial arm of the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade.
“The exports mainly included petrochemical products, aluminum ingots, tar, glass, polyester fibers, red meat, cement, flowers and plants, which headed to 59 countries, including Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq and Turkmenistan,” Asghari was quoted as saying by IRNA.
The official added that imports to the province during the same period mostly consisted of raw material for production units and stood at 79,000 tons worth $167 million, indicating a 25% and 9% year-on-year growth in weight and value respectively.
Markazi Province is Iran’s fourth biggest industrial hub and a major producer of travertine stones, plants and flowers.
