More than 57.8 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at Shahid Rajaei Port, Iran’s largest port located in the southern Hormozgan Province, during the nine months to December 20, registering a 22% increase compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to the managing director of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Organization. “Non-oil and oil products constituted over 38.2 million and 19.5 million tons of the total sum respectively, indicating a 29% and 11% rise compared with the similar period of last year,” Allahmorad Afifi was quoted as saying by IRNA. Afifi noted that during the period, non-oil exports from the port stood at 25.3 million tons, showing a 45% upsurge year-on-year. Oil exports amounted to 6.3 million tons, registering a 41% rise year-on-year. During the nine-month period, over 3.2 million tons of goods transited from the port, showing a 2% increase compared with last year’s corresponding period. Container loading and unloading amounted to over 631,000 TEUs, registering a 32% increase.
