IDB to Develop Wastewater Networks

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has allocated $248.5 million for the development of Iran’s rural wastewater networks, said Ali Asghar Ghane, the deputy manager of the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company, IRNA reported. The total banking facilities of the IDB stands at about $995 million, a major part of which has been allocated to the water and wastewater sectors of Iran, Ghane stated. Referring to the pollution of water wells and resources caused by industrial and chemical pollutants, the official said “with regards to drinking water, there is no pollution and the quality of water is constantly monitored and in case a well or water source becomes polluted, they will be immediately replaced.”
