Rise in Shahid Rajaie Port Throughput

About 1.4 million TEU of oil and non-oil goods were handled in Shahid Rajaie Port during the eight months to November 20, registering a 29% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period, according to the director general of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department.

“Close to 22.31 million tons of non-oil goods were exported to and 6.61 million tons were imported from the port during the eight-month period, indicating a 44% rise and a 3% decrease respectively year-on-year,” Allah-Morad Afifi was quoted by IRNA as saying.

The official said the eight-month export of oil products from the port amounted to over 5.81 million tons, which shows a 40% increase.

Shahid Rajaie, in southern Iran, is one of the main transit routes linking Central Asia to Eastern Europe. It accounts for 90% of Iran’s cargo traffic.
