Twelve smuggled cars confiscated in Fars Province in the last Iranian year (ended March 19, 2016) will be exported to other countries, said the director general of the southern Iranian province’s Tazirat Organization, Ali Mobasheri.

The announcement comes after it was decided in August to destroy these smuggled luxury cars along with 400 tons of other contraband worth $4.24 million, in what would have been the largest destruction of smuggled goods in Iran in 38 years.

Tazirat (meaning state punishment) is part of the Islamic judicial law specifying sentences for trading crimes. The organization is affiliated to the judiciary and ensures that laws are implemented and violators face punishment. Its responsibilities include overseeing observation of social, cultural, medical and economic rights as well as pursuing offenses related to smuggling of contraband and foreign currency, real estate violations, overcharging, fraud and hoarding.
