The customs authorities of Iran and Armenia have signed a memorandum of understanding to increase cooperation.

The MoU was signed by the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, Masoud Karbasian, and the head of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, Vardan Harutyunyan, in Yerevan on Thursday.

Based on the MoU, Iranian and Armenian motorists can now freely travel across the border, IRNA reported.

The MoU stipulates facilitation of customs formalities and border-crossing procedures for economic players, diplomats and tourists from the two sides, as well as the online exchange of information between the border customs checkpoints of Meghti in Armenia and Nurduz in Iran.
