National Census Deadline Extended

The eighth round of National Population and Housing Census has been extended until Nov. 21, the census headquarters announced on Friday. “Data from nearly 23.4 million or 97% of households have been collected from across the country by field officers since the beginning of the door-to-door phase of the national census on October 19, up until Friday morning, November 18,” Omid Ali Parsa, the head of Statistical Center of Iran, was quoted as saying by IRNA. He added that so far, close to 77.4million people have been registered. The door-to-door phase, which is the second phase of the census after the online registration, was initially scheduled to end on November 18. The online registration phase, in which 11.1 million households, that is almost 37.2 million people accounting for 46.4% of the population participated, began on September 24 and ended on October 21 after the deadline was pushed back several times.
