Iran exports semi-finished leather and imports processed leather priced three times higher, the secretary of Iran’s Leather Union said. “This means our country experiences all the adverse environmental impacts of leather production and the likes of Turkey and Italy enjoy its added value,” Farzan Mohajer was also quoted as saying by ILNA. The official added that the domestic leather industry is currently operating at 30% of its capacity.
