Iran exported 36,400 tons of raisins during the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 20), which indicates a 10% decline compared with the similar period of a year before, according to Mohammad Hassan Shamsfard, the head of Dried Fruit and Nut Exporters Union. Shamsfard attributed the drop to Turkey’s takeover of Iran’s overseas markets. “Turkey is exporting raisins with prices lower than those of Iran,” he was quoted as saying by ILNA.
