The eighth session of Iran-Malaysia Economic Commission will be held next spring in Tehran, said Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi after his meeting with Malaysian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Mustapa Mohamed on Saturday. Mohamed, heading a large Malaysian trade delegation, arrived in the Iranian capital on Friday to survey opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in meetings with Iran’s high-ranking officials. According the latest statistics released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, Iran exported more than 62,700 tons of non-oil goods worth $22.4 million to Malaysia during the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), which indicates a 17% rise over the similar period of a year before. Steel products, petrochemicals, dates, pistachios, gypsum, zinc and lead were among the main exports. Meanwhile, Iran imported more than 171,800 tons of goods worth $171 million from Malaysia during the six-month period and registered a 26% rise. The main imported commodities included palm oil, natural rubber, machinery, industrial parts and cocoa butter.
