Totally 2,431 closed industrial units, which employed 46,000 people, have been revived from July 23, 2013—when President Rouhani took office—to July 21, 2016, the head of Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization said. Also, 7,142 units were launched in industrial towns during the period, which employ 115,000 people, IRNA also quoted Ali Yazdani as saying. By definition, enterprises run by 50 workers or less and 100 workers or less are considered small- and medium-sized respectively, according to Iran’s Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization. In July, it was announced that 96% of the 88,000 licensed Iranian businesses are considered small- and medium-sized.
