The Czech Republic’s commercial attaché has said his country wants to boost economic ties with Iran. Peter Stephen made the statement in a meeting with Saied Shabestari Khiabani, the deputy governor of East Azarbaijan Province, on Tuesday evening. As MNA reported, the Czech official voiced his country’s willingness to make use of the existing capacities and potentials of Tabriz - the capital of the northeastern Iranian province - in producing industrial machinery. Stephen also said that Czech companies tend to invest in East Azarbaijan’s railroad car manufacturing projects, adding that he will try to arrange a gathering in the province for Czech’s merchants and industrialists. Expanding Tehran-Prague economic ties is facing difficulties due to ongoing sanctions, Stephen said. Shabestari, for his part, welcomed expansion of foreign investment in the province, and added that the Czech Republic can contribute to the industrial renovation of the area.
