Close to 522,000 tons of goods worth more than $600 million were exported to Afghanistan from Dogharoun Customs Office in the border city of Taybad located in Khorasan Razavi Province.

The exports in the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 20) registered a 10% increase in both weight and value compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to the general manager of the customs office.

“Exports mainly consisted of construction material, fruit, vegetables and oil products,” IRNA also quoted Omid Jahankhah as saying.

The official noted that the neighboring country imported close to 4,500 tons of goods worth over $1.2 million to Iran via Dogharoun Customs Office during the period.

A third of Afghanistan’s domestic demand for goods enters that country through Dogharoun, which also accounts for 50% of Khorasan Razavi Province’s annual exports.
