About 660,000 tons of goods worth $340 million were exported to 57 countries from Markazi Province in western Iran during the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 20), the provincial Industries, Mining and Trade Organization said.

Exports included tar, glass, polyester fiber, meat, food products, cement, construction materials, flowers and plants, which mainly headed to Afghanistan, Turkey, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Pakistan, IRNA reported.

Some 52,000 tons of commodities worth $110 million were imported into the province from 32 countries during the same six-month period.

With more than 2,800 production units, Markazi Province is Iran’s fourth biggest industrial hub and a major producer of travertine stones, plants and flowers.
