Food exports from Iran during the five months of the current Iranian year (started March 20) amounted to $850 million, which indicates a 2% increase compared with last year’s corresponding period, according to the deputy minister of industries, mining and trade. “Dairy products worth nearly $256 million, confectionery worth $178 million, processed food, including tomato paste, worth $77 million, and conserves and canned products worth $70 million were our main food exports,” Mojtaba Khosrowtaj was quoted as saying by ILNA. Khosrowtaj noted that raw materials are expensive in Iran, which increase the price of end products and prevent Iranian producers from competing in the international markets.
