Iran exported over 900,000 kilograms of henna worth $2.81 million in the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 20-August 21), the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration said. Top customers of Iranian henna in the five-month period were Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Germany, the UAE, the UK, Italy and Iraq, the Persian news website Khabaronline reported. Henna is a small flowering shrub that has many uses. Its flowers are used to create perfume and the leaves are dried and then turned into a fine powder that’s used mainly for coloring hair and clothes. The plant is also used to treat certain skin conditions.
