A tax-exempt program for exporters is to be put into effect in an attempt to facilitate the ground for export activities, general director of renovation and development at Iran’ Trade Promotion Organization, Reza Tajvar, said on Monday.

“To facilitate and promote exports, one important thing has to be done by the TPO and that is the exemption of exporters from paying taxes,” he was quoted by ISNA as saying.

Tajvar said that the development of trade ties with other countries was TPO’s another objective, adding that 10 commercial attaches were selected to work at Iranian missions abroad to pave the ground for the improvement of Iran’s economic relations with a certain group of countries.

“Promotion of non-oil export is the key to achieving sustainable development,” he said, adding that this has been included in the national macro-economic strategies.

Tajvar added that the supreme council of development of non-oil exports has submitted a proposal to the government to provide the exporters and all those engaged in economic activities with special banking loans.

Last week, Valiollah Afkhamirad, the director of TPO, said that Iran’ non-oil exports surpassed $27 billion in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21-October 22), registering a 19 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

Afkhamirad named China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and India as the biggest importers of Iran’s non-oil products. He said that over the seven-month period, $30 billion of goods were imported, indicating a 25 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

The TPO chief also announced that currently, half of the import registration certificates are issued online and the rest are set to be mechanized within a month. “To receive their certificates, importers will soon be exempted from presenting their documents to affiliated organizations in person,” he added.
