A memorandum of understanding was signed between Iran’s Agriculture Ministry and the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) on Saturday. “Based on the MoU, rain-fed cultivation will be expanded over 2 million hectares of land across the country within the next five years. It is estimated that the project will increase agro efficiency by 25% and help sustainable production,” IRNA quoted the minister, Mahmoud Hojjati, as saying. Also on Saturday, Hojjati signed a MoU with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center known as CIMMIT. The agreement is aimed at boosting maize and irrigated wheat cultivation in Iran over a five-year period.
