Iran exported 434 kilograms of caviar worth one million dollars during the first five months of the current fiscal year (started in March). The figure indicates a 29.8% decline compared to last year’s corresponding period, ISNA reported citing latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration. Germany, the UAE and UK were the main customers of the delicacy during the five-month period. Last year, close to 1.5 tons of caviar was produced, over 65% of which—worth $1.7 million—were exported, mainly to Japan, Germany, the UAE, Britain, Italy, Belgium, South Korea and Norway. The export value registered a 183.3% rise compared to the previous year, mainly because of higher prices in international markets.
