The sixth edition of Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX) is scheduled to be held in Tehran, from September 26 to 30 as the organizing committee of OPEX has begun its marketing campaign in the Iranian capital to promote the upcoming event.

This was announced at a coordination meeting with business owners on Wednesday at Waljat College of Applied Sciences in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), the Times of Oman reported on its website.

The meeting discussed the latest updates of the preparations for the exhibition, and the business owners and industrialists were briefed about the participation process, participation advantagesand the Iranian market.

As per the marketing plan, advertisements and appearance on the Iranian media will be extensive before the exhibition begins. The committee also announced that a press conference will be organized next month in Tehran to brief the Iranians on the exhibition and its objectives.

Addressing the business owners at the meeting, Ayman Al Hasani, vice-chairman for Economic and Branch Affairs at Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and chairman of the OPEX Organizing Committee, emphasized the significance of the Iranian market which constantly hosts international exhibitions.

“By organizing the next OPEX event in Tehran, we do not only aim at showcasing the Omani products but also to familiarize with the manufacturing, investment and export opportunities in the Iranian market and the surrounding markets alike,” Al Hasani pointed out.

“The support that OPEX receives from the government is essential, and Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, minister of commerce and industry has always been close and involved during the preparations for these exhibitions, which has greatly contributed to solving many challenges facing the Omani business owners and investors in the various markets where OPEX was organized,” Al Hasani said.

“Coordination is underway to organize B2B meetings between the investors from the two countries during the event. There is also a continuous coordination with the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Sultanate to facilitate visa issuance for the participants,” he added.

The event aspires at enhancing trade ties between Oman and Iran following the lifting of international sanctions on the latter over its nuclear program back in January.

Organized by a committee formed by Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the upcoming exhibition will provide an avenue for Iranian importers, agents, distributors, re-exporters with an opportunity to meet, network and sign up with Omani exporters and government authorities, according to Times of Oman.

Previous editions of OPEX were held in Addis Ababa, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha and Riyadh.
